Badminton is one of the top sports in Pune. From being the city of birth for the sport with respect to its rules being laid down to hosting the Junior World Championships the game has developed right across all sections of the society and enjoys a hugely popular status amongst masses. With enormous number of badminton courts and halls spread across the city the game is practiced as a recreational sport by many but at the same time is a first choice sport for youngsters in junior and sub-junior section aiming to make it big in sports.
Badminton is officially managed by PDMBA Pune (poona) District Metropolitan Badminton Association at the Pune City and District Level. The State level organization for the sport is The MBA Maharashtra Badminton Association.
