The most simplest form of Sport , Athletics , is widely popular at School and College level across Pune. The most commonly contested sport holds it own at the Olympics as well as at Inter School meets. The annual Pune Marathon is widely popular across the strata while the Athletics competitions during Youth Common Wealth Games '08 and the National Games '84 have been the biggest events staged by the city.
Athletics is officially managed by the MAAA Maharashtra Amateur Athletics Association.
