Arguably the oldest form of Sport in the World , Wrestling , finds its roots deep into Indian Culture. Practiced at Akharas ( Gyms ) across India and the State of Maharashtra , Kushti , the traditional form of Wrestling is the most popular Sport in Rural India by far. The Modern form of Wrestling , Freestyle and Greeko-Roman, on artificial surface is a more organized form of the Sport in India and also paves a gateway to Olympics. Kasabha Dadasaheb Jadhav from Karad - Satara, town in the state of Maharashtra, won the first Olympic Individual Bronze Medal for the India way back in 1952 at Helsinki and thus became an unique National Sporting Icon for and from the sport of Wrestling.
